T.E.N.A Council Spiritual Advisor
T.E.N.A Council Chairman
I have Apache and Puerto Rican ancestry from my mother's side, while my father was born in Fresno, with roots tracing back to Chihuahua, Chihuahua, the ancestral home of the Tarahumara people. In 1994, I was introduced to ceremonial practices, marking the beginning of my journey on the Red Road.
Gathering Committee Vendor Coordinator
A HOEG lifer! Since 1994, I've attended the Gathering with my parents and the vibrant community that gathers here each year. Growing up in this atmosphere has been a joy, reconnecting with familiar faces and forming lasting bonds. My cultural heritage encompasses Apache, Puerto Rican, and Yaki roots, a rich tapestry that adds depth to my experiences.
In 2017, I took on a more active role, stepping up to volunteer wherever needed—whether it's providing security, assisting in the kitchen, or running errands. My dedication led me to become the Vendor Coordinator, coordinating the bustling marketplace with enthusiasm and efficiency. Beyond the Gathering, I've lent a hand at the Annual Stanford Pow-Wow for nearly a decade, greeting guests and running errands from 2010 to 2019. Outside of these community engagements, I find solace and joy in hobbies like reading, indulging in art, and sharing movie nights with my husband.
T.E.N.A Council Treasurer
My journey with the Gathering and volunteering blossomed around 2005, igniting a passion that has led me to contribute in various capacities. Whether it's lending a hand in the bustling kitchen, offering assistance at the information booth, or managing financial tasks, I've found fulfillment in supporting this vibrant community.
Culturally, I identify as Xicana, drawing strength from my indigenous roots in Wixárika (Huichol) ancestry from San Luis Potosi and Jalisco, Mexico.
Beyond my commitments to education, where I impart knowledge and inspire young minds, I find solace and inspiration in the great outdoors through hiking, delve into the depths of literature, find creative expression through quilting, and delve into the fascinating realms of history.
My picture captures me with a cup of coffee, because coffee is my love language.
T.E.N.A Council Secretary
Nearly a quarter-century ago, during my college years, I received my first invitation to the Honoring of the Elders Gathering. Entranced by the serene natural surroundings, the rhythmic beats of music, and the graceful movements of dancers beneath the arbor, I found myself immersed in a captivating experience.
Fast forward to 2022, when I made the decision to volunteer at the gathering. Guided by a close friend, I was introduced to Jody, a member of the T.E.N.A Council. From the very outset, I was embraced warmly by the council, fellow volunteers, and all those involved in supporting the event.
Assigned to the kitchen, we encountered our fair share of challenges, but with determination, we overcame them, forging strong connections along the way. Witnessing the heartfelt appreciation reflected in the smiles of those we served brought me unparalleled joy. It was during this time that I recognized a profound calling to continue serving others.
In 2023, I was humbled and deeply honored to accept the role of T.E.N.A Council Secretary. I consider myself immensely blessed and grateful to play a part in fostering unity within our community.
